Every year on May 5, Japanese celebrates Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day) to celebrate and respect their children’s happiness and individual strengths and personalities. In this special day, every families will raise koinobori, or ‘carp-streamer kites’. Japanese use koinobori as the symbol of Children’s Day, because they believe it symbolises courage, spirits, and power just like a carp that fights its way up swift-running streams.
