If you love mystery and crime movie, then you might want to check Gukoroku (Traces of Sin), a movie starring Satoshi Tsumabuki and Hikari Matsushima. This movie is based on the novel “Gukoroku” by Tokuro Nukui, and will be released on cinema this month, on Feb 18 (Sat), 2017.

Plot: An elite salary man, his wife and and their child are murdered by an unknown assailant. The case initially made the headlines, but it is now an unsolved case. One year later, Tanaka (Satoshi Tsumabuki) begins to cover the unsolved murder case. He is a reporter for a weekly magazine. Through an interview with someone who knew the murdered couple, Tanaka learns the murdered couple was far from the ideal couple that they appeared. The truth of the case begins to appear (asianwiki).

Tsumabuki

Tsumabuki and Matsushima have starred together before on Akunin (2010) and Wakamonotachi 2014 (2014). What’s their impression of this movie? On an interview held by cinematoday, Tsumabuki said: “This time, it’s really objective. This movie also has its documentary atmosphere and while the characters are exposed, we also leave it to the viewers to imagine some important points by themselves.” While  Matshushima commented: “The movie turned out to be much more beautiful than I expected. It’s not heavy on the narration, it’s not bright or dark, but delivered in a clear colors.”

You can watch Gukoroku in cinemas all across Japan starts Feb 18. Direted by Kei Ishikawa, also starring in this movie are: Keisuke Koide, Asami Usuda, Yui Ichikawa, Wakana Matsumoto, Tomoya Nakamura, Hidekazu Mashima, Mari Hamada and Mitsuru Hirata.
