If you love anime, especially the big hit “Kimi no Na wa” (“Your Name, 2016) by Makoto Shinkai, then you have to watch his previous works which will be aired on TV Asahi (local Kanto area only) next month. “Kotonoha no Niwa” (“The Garden of Words”) will be aired on March 3 (3:25 – 4:15 AM), while “Byosoku 5 cm” (“5 Centimeters Per Second”) will be aired on March 17 (3:25-4:30 AM).
Kotonoha no Niwa (2013), is a love story between a high school student Takao Akizuki, and an older woman, Yukari Yukino who first met in the garden at the starts of rainy season in Tokyo. The ending song of this anime, Rain by Motohiro Hata (originally by Senri Oe) became a hot topic at that time.
Byosoku 5 cm, is centered on a boy named Takaki who can never forget his first love, and consists of three segments: “Cherry Blossom”, “Cosmonaut”, and “5 Centimeters Per Second”. This anime has many fans and one of the most popular anime of Shinkai. The soundtraks is Masayoshi Yamazaki’s “One more time, One more chance.”
