Shiho Takada (20) was crowned as Miss Nippon Japan 2017 which held in Tokyo on January 23. This is the 49th edition of Miss Nippon Japan contest, which has been held very year in Japan, sponsored by a diet gym company and newspaper company Sports Nippon. The beauty pageant is well known for producing many successful winners, such as actress Fujiko Yamamoto and Norika Fujiwara.

In her post crowning speech, Shiho Takada’s voice was trembling and with teary eyes she said, “I feel so honoured to received such honourable prize. Being able to stand in this stage with other finalists will be my lifetime’s treasure.” Shiho Takada is from Kyoto and now a sophomore in Faculty of Letters, University of Osaka. She loves sports since she was a child, and participated in Junior Olympics during her middle school years.

This year’s Miss Nippon Japan Contest’s theme was “輝く行動美人” (“Kagayaku Kodo Bijin”, or “Beauties who shining through their behaviours”). Around 2156 people applied for the pageant, and the selection process was held since October last year until January this year.
